Air Force (AF) Services Child & Youth Programs is excited to sponsor the AF Space Camp Program at the US Space and Rocket Center, Huntsville AL 28 Jul - 2 Aug 2013. Youth will experience, imagine and interact through Space Shuttle mission simulations, tours of the center and the chance to witness first-hand the everyday challenges faced by astronauts. The camp is an inspiring week of fun and enriching space activities. This program is open to family members of Active Duty Military assigned to or living on an AF installation, AF Retired Military, AF Civilian Employees, or activated Air National Guard or AF Reserve.
Scholarships are available for youth, ages 12-18, to participate in the AF Space Camp Program. The camp is divided into two age groups: ages 12-14, are selected to participate in the Space Academy and ages 15 -18, for the Advanced Space Academy. Airline or POV travel costs to Huntsville AL are the responsibility of the attendees or the installation's Youth Programs. All lodging, meals, and activity fees after arrival at Space Camp are available at no cost to attendees or their installation. Attendees participate in a wide variety of physical activities, hands-on experiences, and classroom activities.
Interested youth with a minimum GPA of 2.8 should complete the electronic nomination form and submit it to their installation's Youth Programs by the 2013 deadline. Youth can only participate in the AF Space Camp Program once unless they participated as a 12 -14 year old in the Space Academy and are now eligible for the Advanced Space Academy.
